Indecent by Paula Vogel

Indecent is a play about a play: Sholem Asch’s The God of Vengeance. It follows the story of the play’s inception, production and reception, and the lives of those who performed it. It’s full of questions about Jewish art and representation, assimilation and survival vs cultural continuity and being true to yourself and your community. With these designs, I strove to create a visual difference between the world of Indecent and the world of The God of Vengeance, depicting the God of Vengeance characters (Rifkele and Manke) in bright jewel tones reminiscent of a Chagall painting.
